Contract subscribers become prepaid subscribers when they roam.
Two different OpenCloud Rhino customers have implemented different versions of an innovative service to provide contract subscribers with confidence and security regarding their phone use and expenditure whilst roaming internationally. It is ironic that prepaid subscribers often have more visibility and control of their spending than their contract-based cousins. This service gives contract customers reassurance as to the maximum that their expenditure will be.
The service recognises that the user has roamed and then changes the subscriber from a post-paid contract customer to a prepaid subscriber for the duration they are abroad and registering this change in the HLR. All data, SMS and voice usage is then controlled by the home network as it is with a standard prepaid customer, with the priced usage being registered against a temporary prepaid account with the starting balance set by the subscriber.
